Chocolate Bunnies

Here's what I've always wondered: Y do we give out chocolate bunnies on Easter?? HUH? Yeah sure "The Easter Bunny" comes but he/she (no one really knows the gender) isn't made of chocolate! He/She's a bunny for gosh sake!!!!! Y couldn't it be a peppermint bunny? I LOVE peppermint sticks and candy canes!
